Rev. Dr.Stanley Wilbur Lowe - Chairman of the House of Assembly

Born : in Bailey's Bay in 1945

Education/Profession : Attended Francis Patton School and St. George's Secondary School. He followed that with two years at Rhodes Preparatory School in New York City. In 1967, while attending Poole Technical College in Poole, England, Rev. Lowe decided to enter the Christian ministry.Rev. Lowe earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Payne Theological Seminary in Ohio. He graduated at the top of his class and later worked on a second Masters Degree in Educational Psychology. Rev. Lowe earned his Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio in 1992, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humanities Degree from Monrovia College in Africa. Rev. Lowe returned to Bermuda in 1997, as pastor of Richard Allen AME Church, St. George's.

Born : April 24, 1939 Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Education/Profession : Received his B.A. in History from the University of Alberta in 1962. He graduated from the University of Toronto Law School in 1965 and was admitted to the Bar of Alberta in 1966. At the time of his appointment to the Senate, he chaired the Executive Committee of Macleod Dixon, making him responsible for the management of one of Western Canada's largest law firms.

Party : LPC (Liberal Party of Canada / Parti Libéral du Canada)

Political career : Liberal Party of Canada (June 1984 - ). President of Liberal Party of Canada (May 1994 - March 1998). Deputy Leader of the Government (October 1999 - January 2001).

Education/Profession : Graduate of Wheaton (IL) College and earned his master's degree from Northern Illinois University at DeKalb in 1967.

Party : Republican

Political career : Elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1986, Hastert, who turned 57 on January 2, 1999, represents Illinois' 14th Congressional District - a suburban landscape of high tech firms, small and large industrial complexes and expansive farm land west of Chicago. On January 6, 1999, Hastert had the high honor of being elected Speaker of the House. He also served as Chairman of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee's National Security, International Affairs and Criminal Justice Subcommittee.
